Where the story starts.

A retail business in Australia set out to make hyperlocal rapid delivery feel effortless: find what is available near you, order, and receive it in minutes. For the customer the proposition is simple. Underneath it sits a web of location, inventory, payment and delivery systems that all have to agree in real time.

The challenge

The customer saw a 33-minute promise. Behind it were dozens of interconnected systems.

Traditional ecommerce assumes most products are available to most customers. Quick commerce is the opposite: availability depends on postcode, suburb, delivery radius, fulfilment location, live inventory and whether a store is even open. With a roughly 33-minute target, every unnecessary step in that chain has a cost — and payments, geocoding, push and platform quirks all had to behave.
